From the start

So yesterday I posted the link on what to animate and that actually turned out that is a two-part discussion(check yesterday for link)and today I read part 1. I found that it's mostly what to put on your demo reel but also what kind of tests you should do, but before all of that there is a bit where they talk about how there is all this stress to come out of the gates trying to be as good as other animator's or as fast and it just tells you to slow down and reminds you that this is a growing thing and that you get better with time. So that helped me calm down and re-think my approach and I think I am going to do a few tests that it points out, they will mostly be pantomimes I think I'm going to do one with the Morpheus rig and one with the Bishop rig. So leading off......

Breaking

So I may have just hit a wall in animating but I think I can steer myself back on the right path and I plan on experimenting. Kenny Roy my last mentor at AM told us to remember for every minute you experiment you get 5 minutes back into your workflow and that is so true if you are not afraid to break something or mess up then you are ahead of the people who are(which is me right now) so I take that challenge and will change that about me.

Animation News

I have a few more helpful tips that are helping me get through this rutt.
A list of stuff you could try and animate and should animate

Music...Hahaha first off Pandora picked this and the irony with the name is great. Also only had this weird SIM video for it.

I have two videos to leave you with. First is from Golden Lucky and my good pal worked on it The One and Only Chad Colby. It's really one of the coolest looking stop-motion short's I've seen.

Looking thru the B-Sides from Golden Lucky on Vimeo.

And Glen Keane talking about Tarzan and animation tests.

Animation news. I was shown another podcast from Ronski the dude just has these lying around, this is James Baxter he was supervising animator on a lot of movies but the best one on the list in my eyes is Quasimodo in Hunchback of Notre Dame. This podcast is a 3 parter and basically goes over how he started to how he views 3d now and where he see's it in the future.
