Here is me trying to polish up last months 11 sec club, I've only gotten to about the first 130 frames and only the body. So this will be an update usually on this shot as I go on. Here it is.

Time is flying.. Anyway, as of my last post I said that I entered the 11 Second Club contest for May and I got 104th place. At first I was upset with this but after watching it over again and realizing the amount of time I was able to put into it(which was about 2 weeks and only a few hours out of those days) I was okay with what I got and now I am pumped to start doing more tests.

Since now that's done with I am going to continue doing a lot of animation this month here is a list of what I plan to get done by the end of the month. 1. Atleast two Animation 51 exercise tests. 2. Female Walk cycle. 3. Polishing my May 11sec club shot. 4. Planning/finalizing the 11 sec club for this month June.. Ambitious, I know, but I feel like I have a lot of hours and time to spend getting better. So might as well get them in this month!!

Here is my most recent test from the Animation 51 exercises. It's number 3 and it's a Brick Drop. Now I am not the greatest or most technical guy when it comes to Maya, so I just did a brick falling without breaking (which does happen haha) Here is the test and expect more soon.

And I leave you with some Tegan and Sara - Walking with a Ghost
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8543121195712997797.post-24699009712812989312013-05-31T22:10:00.000-07:002013-05-31T22:10:58.577-07:00Time out!!Sooo, here I am with another post been busy the past few days and I apologize for that. Work and trying to animate on free time has been hectic and tiring. But I wanted to let anyone if there is anyone who reads this, that I submitted my final for the 11 second club this month!! It was a challenge, getting back into the chair and animating consistently has been fun but tiring. I am re-learning things and making mistakes, which are oddly good things to do :) I have some problems in my workflow that I plan on to work out on the next shot.

Well here is the shot... I need to do some serious timing and all around polishing on this shot but I learned a ton.. That's the important thing, right?

Well this month will be more animation including, animation 51 exercises(continued), Female/Male walk cycles, and possibly the 11 sec club for this month?? But now I leave you with some Weezer.

Which is a ball bouncing across the screen. I am really digging these exercises and I remembered how long this animation took me when I first did it at AnimationMentor. I guess I really didn't feel like I was progressing but I am and I feel it more everyday. Anyway, here is that test.

So, now onto my next shot which is a female walk cycle. I chose to do a sexy/runway walk because I think there is a lot I can learn from it, and with a walk cycle I always feel you can learn so much from them. So here is a rough timing/blocking pass of key poses.

I still have to do a timing pass but for the most part it's all there ready to go. Tomorrow brings us #2 of the animation exercises and a female walk cycle. So yeahh be on the look out.

What I have done, I zoomed the camera in more to make it tighter, I also fleshed out the beginning the middle and finally the end. I think it's close to being ready for splining and a pass on overlap and anticipation.. Anyway, here is the most recent pass.

In August I will be moving to California to begin a new chapter in my life. I've decided to go into crunch time with animation as I will be working on a new reel and doing the 51 animation exercises to refresh and make my skills stronger. I will be posting all of my work on here as I go and it might not be a daily affair, but I will be working every week and whenever I have something to post, I'll post it as soon as I'm done.

I am going to start with posting a ball bounce which is number 1 on the exercise list. The list can be found at 51 animation exercises

Here it is.

Or anyone??? Hahaha, I don't know if anyone still reads this but anyway, I'm back!!! I have started this blog back up again and I'll be updating daily with animation news, and my own updates regarding, well... Anything really.. I had to stop blogging awhile ago due to life getting a bit hectic, bills and work just consuming my life. But I'm back now and ready to get this going, sooooo let's do this!!!

Animation News

I have some goals for the month of June and I want to share them with you guys and gals!!

#1 Complete the 11 sec club for this month. (For real this time)

#2 Learn Adobe Flash.

#3 Write a comic book. ( I know weird but I've always wanted to do one)

Anyway, those are my goals and now to the animation news.. Today, Disney released a trailer for their new animated movie "Wreck it Ralph" and it's amazing. An animated movie about video games?? Are you kidding me, the kid inside me is jumping with joy. Also, you'll see in the trailer that they have cameos, from the all time greatest video game characters!! I am so excited to see this and I want to give a shout out to everyone who worked on it, including the AM Alumni. Job well done!!! Now check it out!!!

I have a few podcasts I want to talk about. First, there is a new Force Versus Form Podcast!!! Featuring Fes, Tom and myself. We talk about the movies that will be coming out this year and we also talk about all the new animation schools that have come out. Give it a listen

Force Versus Form Episode #7

Also, I want to thank Peter Saumur for showing me this podcast and getting me hooked to listening to them. Kevin Smith (Director) hosts a podcast called "Smodcast" and recently they did an episode where he interviews "Paul Dini" one of the writers from Batman the Animated series. He invented the character Harley Quinn and it's just an amazing interview, and I got hooked and now I listen to all of the podcasts.. Give this a listen as well!!

Smodcast Episode #211 "Fatman on Batman"

Alright this has been a long post but it was the first one in a longgggg time. Sooo I leave you with some tunes..

I feel like I do this a lot but things aren't clicking right now in my workflow and I can say that the little test made me figure out a bit of what I can fix so that's good.

So here is what I have of tonight trying to polish it up.

>

CiaoUnknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8543121195712997797.post-38107652478598917562011-09-08T23:47:00.000-07:002011-09-08T23:56:59.912-07:00Yeah what
So nothing big trying to just kind of tie down and push some key poses on this test it's not anywhere where I want it but here ya go.

CiaoUnknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8543121195712997797.post-92117062004756831102011-09-06T23:40:00.001-07:002011-09-07T00:41:18.280-07:00Yeppp
So I am getting ready to kick off a productive week with a Sunday deadline!!
I have decided to take part of the 11 Sec Club Blog it's just like the 11 sec club for acting only these are weekly tests that start on Monday and end on Monday.

Every week is a different theme and this week's theme is making a human walk like an animal. I am making him walk like a lizard and this is rough layout I didn't get around to the full blocking of keyposes like tomorrow I will but this will do. I want him to chill look around then run to one side stop look around then sneaky crawl to the other side and stop and blink a few times.. That's it and I don't really have this timed out it's just spread out for the sake of not having it on 1's.

Second thing I am working on is just a dog walk cycle I am working on the feet right now and I am kind of just going to be polishing everything up as I go, so here that is.

Will have more tomorrow now it's time to sleep

PeaceUnknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8543121195712997797.post-44412908091487876512011-05-28T22:08:00.000-07:002011-09-05T22:57:15.793-07:00Bang
BOOOM!!!! Worked on the jaw and the corners didn't really have a lot of time to work on the lips or the brows and eyes but I will work on that tomorrow and I also fixed a few notes in the beginning. Next will be fixing notes on the end and polishing anything else.

Animation News

A sneak peek at Pixar's next short "La Luna"

Pixar's next short film

Music

Really cool short film by Anthony Holden called "Mashed"

CiaoUnknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8543121195712997797.post-2774844775451232342011-05-14T21:12:00.000-07:002011-05-15T01:24:10.866-07:00Lip Sync
Today I worked on Lipsync for the first 50 frames, I feel that it's a bit too much going on with the corners but I'll tone that down some. Tomorrow is going to be another 50 frames and polishing up some notes for the body.

Animation News

A post by Wayne Gilbert about why flexibility in the face is important? Well a good friend of mine Daniel Harman has motivated me to start back up and treat it as an assignment, that every day I need to post my progress. So starting now there will be a new format in my post's and it will usually start with my shots progress and a little bit of news, I'm pretty excited about doing this and you can also follow Daniel at his blog where he is going to be doing the same thing.

So follow Daniel and his progress at Asher's Aniblog

And here is my shot's progress. I mostly worked on the body need to get into face and lip sync right now that shall be next.

Animation News

Willie Downs is an AM student who has started a project called "Animator Letters Project" what Willie want's to do is collect as many letters from professional animator's encouraging others to not give up and follow their dreams. I think it's a really great project and I thank Willie cause the letters he has received are really inspiring and when you may be feeling down on your work you can go to this site and just get recharged it's an awesome thing.

Check it Animator Letters Project

Music

A short film by AM Alumni Christiaan Moleman called "Teddy" Beautifully done story and animation.

CiaoUnknownnoreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8543121195712997797.post-10065089464991330312011-05-09T01:44:00.000-07:002011-05-09T11:27:55.452-07:00Thor?
So I saw Thor the other day and I am not going to ruin it with spoilers, he dies. Just kidding :) Anyway I thought the movie was about 30 mins to long and not very action packed, Although it did have Natalie Portman which kept my attention to the screen and not the wall or the roof, I just felt like it missed opportunities for action. Best part in my mind were a few of the visual effects of the world's and the character Loki was awesome. But yeah enough about my review here is the good stuff!!

Animation News

A great post by Jim Brown about being stuck in animation and ways of getting out of that funk. A lot of it has helped me but I realized I haven't done some of the stuff since Animation Mentor, like to-do list are huge and they have helped me get on track every time. So check out his post really helpful.

Road Blocks and Forks in your Animation

A post from Kyle Kenworthy about his workflow and how it help him complete a shot in a day.
